The Chance to Dance Foundation is a charitable not for profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the dance arts and culturally enriching northwest Ohio through the education of children and young adults in dance training, summer intensive study and master classes. The foundation supports outreach of the arts through performance at local schools and community events. The Community Foundation is responsible for the administration of this endowment.
The fund was established in 2006 to assist gifted dance students who otherwise could not continue their studies with financial scholarships to further their dance education. The recipients will take three to six classes a week and average between four and thirteen hours of instruction depending on age and ability. With financial support, many may choose to attend summer intensive study programs with the Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Met, Fort Wayne Ballet, Findlay Academy of Ballet and others.
Alumni of our program have continued their dance educations at Ohio University, University of South Florida, Mercyhurst University, Oberlin College, Wright State, University of Akron, and The Ohio State University. Some have gone on to experience ballet at the professional level with The Dayton Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Neos Dance Theatre and Ballet Met.
